TEACHER

Dr. Miller has maintained a private voice studio in Mount Holly, New Jersey since 2007. Former students can be seen and heard on college campuses such as Baldwin Wallace, Westminster Choir College, Rutgers, Berklee College of Music, The College of New Jersey, and Rowan University pursuing degrees in Musical Theater, Voice Performance, and Music Education. She has had numerous winners in both musical theater and classical competitions throughout the state. Students are often seen performing leading roles in high school musicals and local theaters across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and have attended programs such as ArtsBridge Summer Musical Theater Intensive, Walnut Street Theater School, iTheatrics, and Westminster Choir College summer voice and theater workshops.

Dr. Miller's love of teaching began as a Master of Music student at the University of Southern California, where she was awarded a Teaching Assistantship. Some of her first students during this time are now performing professionally across the country from regional theaters to Broadway.

Dr. Miller's current studio is filled with motivated singers from advanced middle school to adult who have specific vocal goals in mind, ranging from getting the lead in their high school musicals, being cast in local theater productions, or preparing for college auditions. She teaches all types of musical theater technique from full belt to operetta, and classical/opera technique.



PERFORMER

Ms. Miller made her Carnegie Hall debut as the Soprano Soloist in
FAURÉ’S REQUIEM in June of 2015, conducted by Craig Jessop, presented by Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY). She returned to Carnegie Hall later that summer as the Soprano Soloist in MOZART’S REQUIEM, conducted by Joe Miller, presented by Manhattan Concert Productions. Other 2015 performances included Königen der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte with Salt Marsh Opera, and Vienna, City of Song, a recital of German Lied, with Philadelphia’s Lyric Fest.

2014 included performances of
HADYN’S CREATION with the Central Jersey Choral Society, and two performances of VIENNA, CITY OF SONG with Lyric Fest. In 2013, Ms. Miller performed with Opera Birmingham as Königin der Nacht DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, and covered the role of the Maid in Thomas Adès’ 1995 opera POWDER HER FACE with New York City Opera, a role she performed in 2006 with the composer conducting. In fall 2011, she debuted at the Macau International Music Festival as Ännchen DER FREISCHÜTZ. A multi-talented artist, Ms. Miller made her 2012 directorial debut with Opera in the Heights in the Houston premiere of Rossini’s OTELLO.

Ms. Miller made her European debut in the fall of 2008 as Königin der Nacht
DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, a role she has also performed at the Festival Internacional de Música de Almansa in Spain and at Opera North in New Hampshire. In 2008-2009 Ms. Miller was a member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin ensemble, singing Königin der Nacht and nine other roles with the company, including the cover for Zerbinetta ARIADNE AUF NAXOS. She was invited to sing at the Beijing Music Festival’s opening concert in the Forbidden City Concert Hall, as well as sing the role of Ein junger Hirt TANNHÄUSER and cover Sophie DER ROSENKAVALIER. Ms. Miller’s year at Deutsche Oper Berlin was made possible through the Curt Engelhorn Scholarship of The Opera Foundation, Inc.

In addition to the Curt Engelhorn Scholarship, Ms. Miller was a Southwest Region winner of the 2011 Metropolitan Opera National Council Awards, a Semi-Finalist in the 2010 Charles A Lynam Vocal Competition, and was the only female finalist in the Philadelphia Orchestra’s 2008 Greenfield Competition. Ms. Miller was a winner in ten competitions during her five years in Los Angeles, most notably a finalist in the 2006 Western Region Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.

Ms. Miller received her Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from the University of Southern California. She was a student of Cynthia Munzer, and worked extensively with director Ken Cazan and conductor Brent McMunn. Ms. Miller earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, where she was a student of Lindsey Christiansen.
